Died, Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township, MI. He was born on October 23, 1950, in Ypsilanti, MI., the son of Joseph and Pauline Laperriere. On October 19, 2002, he married Penny (Sandlin) Sloan, and she survives. He worked for General Motors Co., Willow Run Plant, as a skilled tradesman for 38 1/2 years until his retirement. Lyn was an avid drag racer for over 40 years. He spent countless hours building, tuning and racing his Super Stock class race cars. He competed in IHRA and NHRA events throughout the midwest including right here in Michigan at Milan Dragway. He was also an avid USBC bowler for over 20 years and enjoyed University of Michigan football. Survivors besides his wife Penny, include his parents; sisters: Sandra (Steve) Pepper, Lari Laperriere and Sheri Laperriere; step-daughter: Heather Sloan; father-in-law: Dwaine (Rosemary) Sandlin; brother-in-law: Dwaine (Susan) Sandlin, Jr.; sister-in-laws: Cindy (John) Gavin, Tammy (Joseph) Mansour and Patricia (Gary) Billiau; his two dogs: Max and Danny boy, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. Cremation will take place. There will be a memorial gathering to celebrate his life on Friday, October 19, from 2-5pm at Janowiak Funeral Home, "Where Families Come First".
